
The 38th country to decide was Ukraine. In a show lasting more than 3 1/2 hours the country selected its 7th entry to Eurovision. Except for a couple of low positions Ukraine has on the whole done very well in Eurovision. From "Wild Dances", the winning song of 2004, to the top 10 placing of "Show Me Your Love" in 2006, the slightly bizarre "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" which finished 2nd in 2007 and not too mention the funky "Shady Lady" from last year's contest, which again came second. The difference from last year's stylish offering from Ani Lorak couldn't be bigger. This comes across as the cheapest possible Madonna imitation. Even saying that would be a huge offense to the superstar. This is as tacky and trashy as it gets. Brain-dead lyrics, weak vocals and a chorus that gets more annoying than anything else. My only fear is that really annoying songs do tend to stick to the brain...
Ukraine will compete in the 2nd semi final on 14th May.
