ESTONIA!!! This evening Estonia selected their entry, almost simultaneously with Russia. Estonia started out doing very well in Eurovision in the mid-90s to early noughties. Who could forget gems like 1996's "Kaelakee Hääl", 1997's "Keelatud Maa", 1999's "Diamond Of Night", 2000's "Once In A Lifetime", 2001's winner "Everybody" or 2002's "Runaway" (sung by Swedish singer Sahlene). ARTIST: Urban Symphony
TITLE: Rändajad
They have gone the same route as Slovenia this year, choosing a song that is heavily backed up by violins. However, this song features far more vocals than the Slovenian song, albeit in Estonian. It is also a slower song than that of Slovenia. Ironically, they are competing in the same semi final as both Slovenia and Norway, which also uses a similar type of instrument (fiddle). It is a quite pleasant tune, with a lot of elegance and a touch of folk music, very different from anything they have done before. I can easily see this qualify as they have near all of their neighbours in this semi.
Estonia will compete in semi final 2 on 14th May.
